Student sows TOP seeds at Royal Welsh Show
A City & Guilds student from Swansea beat stiff competition to design the winning garden of the year at the Royal Welsh Show 2006.
Saunsurée Evans, 30, (pictured left) who designed the 'Tequila Sunrise' garden (helped by nine other students and staff) is also Neath Port Talbot College Student of the Year 2006.
Five days working were spent working on the Mexican-inspired garden, (pictured below) creating a central patio composed of a sun, surrounded by botanical rays of orange, blue and red.

Saunsurée joined horticulture about two years ago and has since successfully completed the City & Guilds Certificate in Gardening and the City & Guilds Garden Design courses.
A thrilled Evans said: "I'm gob smacked! I'm so proud to have won this award – the result of a great team effort. I'm also pleased that I undertook training in this area as I feel I have gained so much from it."
Richard Coleman, senior horticulture lecturer at Neath Port Talbot College applauded her achievement: "Saunsurée is a very interesting girl. She had no education to start with and then, within two years, passed five exams for the City & Guilds certificate and progressed onto an RHS general certificate. Amazing for a girl who had never even sat an exam before! I think Saunsurée has taken off and would not be surprised to see her go up and up."
Phillipa Thomas, consultant at City & Guilds, said: "Saunsurée has shown tremendous determination and originality in her landscape, and is truly a deserving recipient of this year's award and title."
