In the chapter on gardening basics you will find information on everything from the life of plants and feeding the soil to sowing seeds and planting out as well as advice on tools and planning your time in the garden. There is a strong organic theme running through the whole book which I liked. If you are concerned about the use of herbicides and pesticides you will find in each chapter pragmatic alternatives - tried-and-tested solutions from yesteryear. There are 320 pages of clear and concise information with good colour plates and step-by-step pictorial instructions.
