This unusual book by Gordon Thorburn and Gareth Jones is a neat tribute to this icon of our national gardening identity. Gordon and Gareth delve into the sheds of British blokes to discover the personalities and passions hidden within. Each page has a fascinating story of a man and his shed accompanied by photographs showing its personalised exterior and interior. It’s quite amazing the kind of uses the garden shed gets put to and you can discover the church in a shed; the shed used as a milk bottle museum; the bar in a shed complete with disco lights and lasers not to mention the Byzantine shed! If your shed is a sanctuary from the outside world The Shed Book is bound to strike a chord. It’s a book certainly aimed at the male of the species - there is only one woman featured with a shed who happens to be one of the book’s photographers – so maybe there is room for the authors to consider another book featuring women and their sheds.
