BBC Gardeners' World Live LogoCalling all Gardeners

Have you always wanted to create a show garden and be a garden designer like Charlie Dimmock or Diarmuid Gavin? Are you bursting with ideas for creative planting combinations and imaginative colour schemes?  If so, now is your chance to get involved!

BBC Gardeners' World Flower Border CompetitionGardeners from across the country will have the opportunity to show off their gardening skills and compete in the best flower border competition, Birmingham Borders, at BBC Gardener's World Live 2005, 15-19 June at The NEC, Birmingham.

For the first time, 30 small outdoor plots will showcase the best amateur gardeners who are invited to submit their plans and plant list to the BBC Gardeners World Live expert panel.  The 30 finalists will then get the chance to create their gardens for real at the show.

Louise Anderson Horticultural Show Manager at BBC Gardeners' World Live commented, 'we are looking for enthusiastic local gardeners to grow plants and create flower borders at the Show, the more colourful and creative the better.  The Competition is open to individuals and groups from across the Midlands area and beyond.'  Judging will be conducted on Press and Preview Day (15th June) by an expert panel including representatives from Birmingham City Council and BBC Gardeners' World Live.

BBC Gardeners' World Flower Border CompetitionEach plot will measure 1.5m x 3m and will be designated a specific colour range (e.g. reds or blues or whites etc) and the designer will need to use their knowledge of plants to create a stunning display.  These can include bedding plants, herbaceous perennials and flowering shrubs or any plants that look their best in mid June.'

For further information about the Competition please contact Louise Anderson at the Royal Horticultural Society louiseanderson@rhs.org.uk for an application form.

So - if you have always wanted to get your fingers dirty building a garden at a flower show and think you've got what it takes to enter, get planning and be sure to submit your design by Friday 29th April 2005 to:
