Holiday with Hillier - Short Breaks for Garden Lovers 2007

Andrew McIndoeAndrew McIndoe, Deputy Managing Director Hiller Garden Centres and Nurseries outlines for Reckless readers Hillier’s exciting gardening holidays programme for 2007.

What sorts of people go on gardening holidays?  All sorts!  There are those that are passionate about gardens and plants and want a busman's holiday. Others no longer have the tie of a large garden but enjoy looking at other peoples.  Some come on their own as much for the company of others as they do for the gardens. There are reluctant partners that often find that they like the travelling and talk of gardening more than they thought they would.

One thing is certain all enjoy having everything organised for them: no decisions makes for a relaxing few days. No car to find a parking place for and you can have a glass of wine or a beer without worrying about driving. A short break is easy to fit in, particularly if you have a garden and cannot be away from the watering, grass cutting and seed sowing for too long.

Coach time, meal times and evenings are spent chatting with fellow travellers about the places we visit, the gardens we admire and the people we meet.  Many regular travellers meet up tours year after year and friendships develop that last way beyond a four day holiday.

Hillier has been leading and organising Garden Holidays in the U.K. and Europe for a number of years. Cornwall, Holland, Devon, and Ireland are favourite destinations.

Cote D’Azur
(Cote D’Azur)

This year we have a new tour to Dublin with an amazing itinerary for any plant lover, and we have decided not to ignore our local area so we now have a Hampshire tour.  Our Cote D’Azur trip (pictured above) was such a success last year and so over subscribed we are running three trips in 2007.  We have fine tuned our Norfolk and Devon & Somerset holidays and really believe these are outstanding trips and value for money.

All tours start from Ampfield House, near Romsey in Hampshire, where we have free parking available.  There are facilities available at Ampfield House if you arrive early and staff on hand to help with baggage etc…  We travel by executive coach with toilet and air conditioning and you will be joined by a Brookland Travel guide and Hillier host.

We can provide a list of B&B’s and hotels in and around Romsey if necessary for those that need to overnight beforehand or after.  The Romsey area has many attractions and this can be a lovely way to extend your holiday.
