Design - I pride myself on being able to design quality gardens that are well & truly across the board. From exposed seaside gardens, Mediterranean courtyard gardens, contemporary and low maintenance through to traditional cottage gardens, my main priority is to accommodate not only my client’s taste and budget but also their gardening competency and the amount of time and inclination available to keep their garden looking at it's best.

Qualifications - Having Studied for 3 years at Sparsholt College, Hampshire. I passed an HND in Garden Design obtaining Distinction in all modules and have 6 years garden design experience.
Awards - Life Long Learning Award – Sparsholt College.
Area based - Mainly South and South West England & I’m happy to work nationally & internationally for larger projects. My Postal Garden Design Service allows me to design smaller projects nationally and internationally.
Most exciting garden designed? - A very challenging garden indeed; a seaside garden in Hammworthy, Dorset. A garden only 30 metres from the sea, open to prevailing, cold, salt laden winds and a small budget!
What inspires you about each garden that you design? The challenge of being able to marry together the requirements of the client with the requirements of the site and discovering the unique element that tie together the practical with the spirit and atmosphere of the setting.
Is there a plant that seems to be consistently used in your designs? Alchemilla Mollis (Lady's Mantle) is a particular
favourite of mine as it looks wonderful in informal, 'cottage style' planting and equally as good in a more contemporary setting due to its leaf shape and lime green, frothy flowers and the way the leaves hold each raindrop like captured jewels.
How do your clients cope with looking after their garden once you and your team have left? – I always try to design gardens taking into account how much maintenance the client ultimately wishes to carry out in their garden and to fit around time available to them and their proficiency. I can provide maintenance schedules or organise for a reputable company to maintain the garden should this be necessary.
What is the average time scale for a typical garden? About 6-8 weeks for the design phase and then timings depend on budgets, booking of contractors and the size of the build.
Advice to would be designers – Ensure that you really listen to what your Clients ask for, you are interpreting their dreams and empowering their vision and enabling these dreams to become reality.
