Design by Kate ElyseeArea based - South Coast

Most exciting garden designed - A seaside garden, over 3 years ! Containing new deck areas, sunken seating fire pit, curved walls, driftwood sculptures, own design of seating and fantastic tender plants, which we can use on the south coast eg king proteas, aloes and echiveras.

What inspires you about each garden that you design? - The place where it is situated and the client, a wish to fulfil their needs and dreams!

Is there a plant that seems to be consistently used in your designs? good old, buxus sempervirens (box) - so versatile equally at home in the country and by the sea. For formal and contemporary designs, in different soils, situations and shapes. Love it!

How do your clients cope with looking after their garden once you and your team have left? - A number we take over on a maintenance basis, and others have their maintenance sheet, which we provide information on what to do throughout the year. There is also access to my phone for information and help anytime!

What is the average time scale for a typical garden? 4 - 6 weeks from meeting the client to final design, then once agreed anything from one week to six, depending on the size and complexity of the work.

Advice to would be designers - stick with it, network and keep up your enthusiasm for why you chose this profession in the first place.
