Most exciting garden you've designed yet? A couple - a large lochside garden and a terraced seaside garden.
What inspires you about each garden that you design? The place and the people.
Is there a plant that seems to be consistently used in your designs? No - plants are chosen for their suitability to the particular place and design.
How do your clients cope with looking after their garden once you and your team have left? I advise them on aftercare, can provide a landscape management plan and help them find a gardener to maintain it.
What is the average time scale for a typical garden? 6 to 12 months but can be several years for larger gardens.
Advice to would be designers? Get a good education, know your materials and keep your eyes open. Do it for love of the job not for fame and fortune.
