Sandy Felton takes a look at Scotts Miracle-Gro range

Miracle Grow - Plant reviveAs we get ready for another new season it’s time to consider some of the products we might need to keep our gardens healthy, colourful and vibrant. I always use February as a month to check what products I have in the shed for the spring and summer. How much compost is there? Have I enough rose feed? Do my houseplants need a tonic? So I took a look at the Scotts Miracle-Gro range to see some of the products they have for the new season.

Miracle-Gro has produced a new plant tonic – Miracle-Gro Plant Revive – which provides neglected and run down plants with a boost. The specially formulated mixture of Miracle-Gro nutrients and essential trace elements gives both indoor and outdoor pot plants all the help they need to revive their blooms and foliage. It’s quick and convenient and can be put directly onto the soil or watered-in. Indoor plants often suffer from the effects of central heating and a tonic at this time of the year can be life-saving. We also tend to neglect our outdoor pot plants during winter - especially our tubs - so again its often common sense to give them a little help. Available from B&Q, Focus, Teco, Asda and selected grden centres nationwide it retails at £2.99 for a 500ml pack.

Levington Tomorite Giant PlanterScotts have also brought out, through their Levington range, a new Levington Tomorite Giant Planter. Double the depth of standard planters it contains added seaweed for fuller-flavoured bumper crops. There is also a new Organic Choice Giant Vegetable Planter which is a 100% organic growing-bag, perfect for all your vegetables .Both planters are available at £3.99.

Miracle-gro compact compostDescribed as a 'garden revolution' the Miracle-Gro Compact Compost will certainly be a hit with those gardeners who live in flats with a small balcony or where storage is limited. The compact compost is a magical little block of dehydrated peat-free compost that is light, easy to transport and store.

One thing a lot of people struggle with is carrying large bags of compost in and out of the car and even around the garden, so this little chap should really appeal. Simply add water and watch it grow into a ready-to-use potting compost in only a couple of minutes. With a re-sealable bag you don’t need to worry about it drying out and because it contains Miracle-Gro Plant food it will feed up to 3 months. Available at £2.49 for 3 litres or £3.99 for 9 litres.

Food for thought! So get busy planning a fantastic 2006 season – there are really a lot of good products out there to help you achieve success.
