Bradstone has launched the Bradstone Design Challenge to find an aspiring garden designer to create its space for BBC Gardeners' World Live 2008.
The brief is to design a garden which sums up The Good Life of self-sufficiency, sustainability and enjoyment of the outdoors. The winner’s garden will be admired by 150,000 garden enthusiasts at BBC Gardeners’ World Live which will be held at the NEC between 11th and 15th June.
Bradstone want to encourage those who enter to think about self-sufficiency (for example, growing their own fruit and veg, or grapes to make their own wine) and how they enjoy their space - do they want an area for entertaining or somewhere for the kids to play?
The Challenge will be judged by Sarah Eberle (pictured left) - who designed the Bradstone garden at Chelsea 2007 which won best in show and Gold (pictured below). She will work with the winner to bring the designs up to RHS strandard and will also be offering support in selecting and sourcing plants as well as being involved in the build. The winner will be expected to work through the whole process. Other judges include Bunny Guinness, Adam Pasco and Bob Sweet.
Deadline for entries is 21st December 2007 – judging will take place and the winner will be notified in January 2008.
A brief and application form, as well as rules and regulations, will be available via www.bradstone.com/garden and by calling 0115 924 7180 – ask for Melanie or Angela.
