New multi-flowering Busy Lizzie and climbing Petunia

Thompson & Morgan are launching a brand new and exclusive, Impatiens namchabarwensis 'Blue Sky' - the world's first multi-flowering blue Busy Lizzie.

The original species of this new introduction was found in one of the least explored regions of Tibet in 2003 by Yuan Yong-Ming and Ge Xue-Jun during a field trip to the area. It took them 5 days to reach the Namchabarwa Gorge, the deepest canyon in the world, where they found the rare blue-flowered Impatiens namchabarwensis growing 100 metres from the river.

Thompson & Morgan breeders have been amazed at the ease of growth of this plant, however, originally it was quite lank and sparse blooming so they set to work to make it more suited to the home garden in the UK. It now has a more compact habit and improved basal branching which means more flowers than the wild species.

Ideal for shady corners the plants are half-hardy, although will self-seed if required. You can only buy Busy Lizzie namchabarwensis ‘Blue Sky’ through Thompson & Morgan Young Plants website and through its catalogues.

Thompson & Morgan have also announced the introduction of a new concept for patios and gardens – Petunia ‘Tidal Wave’ – a world first. With the aid of a Thompson & Morgan exclusively designed climbing frame, you can experience mountains of colour with this extra vigorous specimen.

You can expect a long summer season of bloom in a sunny garden or on the patio and with the help of the climbing frame and a little help weaving stems in to get started, it will form a floriferous climber. Another advantage of Petunia 'Tidal Wave' is that is can be used as thick, weed-suppressing ground cover in beds and borders.
