RHS returns to the Welsh capital

The show will be held in the grounds of Cardiff Castle over Easter Weekend, from Saturday 15 to Monday 17 April 2006. Tickets go on sale from 5 December 2005. To book, call 08700 66 77 99.

After an absence of 85 years, the RHS returned to Cardiff in 2005 to support the celebrations for Cardiff’s centenary year as a city, and 50th anniversary as the capital of Wales. The show, opened by HRH The Princess Royal, brought some of the best nurseries from around the UK to the City and showcased some of the finest Welsh horticultural talent. Visitors turned out in numbers that far exceeded expectation, and enthusiasm for the show has meant that the Royal Horticultural Society will be back in Cardiff with a bigger show and more exhibitors than before.

Stephen Bennett, Director of Shows at the RHS, said: "We are always keen to give people the chance to reach new audiences, and give people the chance to see and buy the best that horticulture has to offer. We are absolutely delighted with the response that the RHS show had in 2005, and expect that the RHS Spring Flower Show in Cardiff will be even more successful in 2006."

Highlights of the show will include RHS two floral marquees that will feature over 50 of the UK’s finest nurseries, whose displays will be judged for coveted RHS medals. There will also be a number of show gardens, as well as bedding displays designed by Welsh horticultural colleges, garden centres and local authorities, including Caerphilly County Council who are returning to the show to try to win the 'Best Garden' accolade for the second year running.

Throughout the show, visitors will have the chance to buy an array of plants direct from the nurserymen who grown them, get advice from the RHS's friendly advisory team, and shop for hundreds of gardening gadgets and accessories. There will be activities to keep the children entertained, so whatever the age of the gardener, there will something to make the RHS Spring Flower Show, Cardiff a 'must-see' event for the Easter weekend.
