Chelsea Great Pavilion Set For Another Dazzling Show

Chelsea Pavilion 2004There are two things which immediately hit the senses when you enter the Great Pavilion at Chelsea. The smell and the colour and the good news is that the Great Pavilion will once again form the centerpiece of the 2005 show.

A dazzling array of plants from across the globe will be on show with over 100 leading UK and international exhibitors. Nurseries, growers and plant specialists, who are the backbone of Chelsea, create displays perfect in every detail.

Chelsea PavilionHighlights of the 2005 show will include the fascinating Wollemi Pine (Wollemia nobilis) which will be shown for the first time in public in the UK, on a display by the Royal Botanic Garden, Kew. Discovered in 1994 in a remote area of the Blue Mountains in Australia, the tree is from the monkey-puzzle family.

Exhibiting for the first time at Chelsea, Borneo Exotics, a carnivorous plant specialist from Sri Lanka will be displaying the widest range of Nepthenthes (pitcher plants) ever seen. Veteran show exhibitor Hillier Nurseries will be going for their 60th consecutive RHS Gold Medal. Their display will occupay the central site around the Monument, as they have done in generations past. They will be launching their new book “The Hillier Gardener’s Guides” at the show. 2005 will see around 14 new exhibitors in the Great Pavilion, including
Cayeux Irises from France and Fernwood nurseries.
